Champions for Health and San Diego County Medical Society, in conjunction with The Doctors Company (TDC), are presenting a new webinar on October 19th from 6:007:30pm. The program is available free of charge and is approved for 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

PCPs are receiving questions about the new monoclonal antibody medications and their potential use for older adult patients with memory concerns. What should providers tell their patients? How effective are the medications, and what to communicate with patients and their family members?

This live stream webinar will explain the science behind the various monoclonal antibody treatments, discuss eligibility, risks and benefits, and the primary care providers’ role in testing, referral and ongoing patient management. Participants will demonstrate enhanced knowledge of new disease–modifying medications work, indications of use & FDA guidelines, effective communication of risks and benefits of the medications, and indications and timing for appropriate referrals to specialists. Learn about the new federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) rules, which expand eligibility for California and Texas physicians. The webinar provides specific instructions about how more CA and TX physicians can qualify for PSLF. Plus how hospitals, foundations and other entities can serve as ‘qualifying employers’ for purposes of PSLF despite state prohibitions from employing physicians. The US Department of Education will provide information about eligible qualifying loans and the new eligibility criteria. This webinar will provide an overview of two available grant programs: Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) Signatory Program and the Equity and Practice Transformation (EPT) Provider Directed Payment Program. The DSA Signatory Program offers up to $50,000 to help practices meet DSA requirements. The EPT Provider Directed Payment program offers up to between $375,000 and $10,000,000 for primary care practices that provide primary care pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine, primary care OB/GYN services, or behavioral health services to Medi–Cal members. OCT 10, 2023: 12-1pm, FREE Webinar for Members and Non–Members, ‘Virtual Grand Rounds: Opioid Treatments: Practical Guidance for Clinicians’. With California’s escalating opioid epidemic, all clinicians should be well–versed in treating patients with opioid use disorder. Now, with naloxone available over the counter, everyone can be empowered to reverse opioid overdoses. But how many of us are comfortable prescribing buprenorphine, referring to methadone treatment, or using naloxone? Marlene Martin, MD, associate professor of medicine at UCSF, director of the UCSF Addiction Care Team and hospitalist based in San Francisco General Hospital, will educate us in using these important and lifesaving medications. Additionally, California State Epidemiologist Erica Pan, MD, MPH, will present updates on COVID–19 and the current status of vaccine recommendations for the fall.
