TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2021 PHYSICIANS: There is an important development in San Diego County's effort to reduce death and severe illness from COVID–19. The County is now allowing all COVID–positive patients who are 65 years of age or older to self–refer to receive monoclonal antibody treatment at the Monoclonal Antibody Regional Center (MARC) at Palomar Hospital in Escondido. As you know, these treatments are key to preventing those with COVID–19 from becoming severely ill but not enough people are using this life–saving resource. Palomar can handle up to 20 patients at ...

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2021 PHYSICIANS: Vaccinations, vaccinations, vaccinations. That is really the only thing on my mind. The vaccines are here, but getting them to all of you and your staff has been challenging. I can't express the sense of relief I felt when the Vaccination Super Station at Petco was announced. The County in partnership with UC San Diego Health, the City of San Diego, the Padres, and others will be vaccinating up to 5,000 health care workers a day by the end of the week. This isn’t a complete solution, many more ...

NYCU December 29, 2020

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2020 PHYSICIANS: I have heard from many of you concerned about vaccinations, particularly those of you in private practice. The lack of information while you continue to see patients and take the risk of exposure is frustrating. I too am frustrated and have been sharing this regularly with local and state officials. Let me assure you, all of you are included in the upcoming tiers of Phase IA. The state and county are working on registration and distribution for health workers outside of the hospital setting and I will be ...
