As California continues its efforts to vaccinate all eligible residents against COVID–19, the state is creating new support for community–based physicians to help our state reach its vaccination goals. The CalVaxGrant is a new program administered by Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC) that will offer grant funding, one–on–one my CAvax support and vaccine administration resources for physician practices.

The CalVax Grant is open until August 13th, and individual practices may receive up to $55,000 to support vaccination efforts, and to be eligible, practices must complete Section A of the myCAVax application process.

Funded by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the practice support grants will help physicians and medical practices (with 200 or less physicians) administer COVID–19 vaccines in their community, as well as reimburse for related expenses incurred since November 2020. Allowable expenses include staffing, training, technology, infrastructure, supplies/equipment and administrative overhead.

Small practice providers can apply to receive $10,000 for up to five vaccination sites for a total of $50,000. Additionally, small practice providers can receive an additional $1,000 per site (up to five sites for an additional $5,000) if their vaccination sites match high priority areas as noted by the CDPH.

Contact calvaxgrant@phcdocs.org or call (916) 551-2565 for more information.

Finally, congratulations to Dr. NiCheng Liang of SDCMS’ Wellness Committee, who has been recognized by Mindful Magazine as one of the 10 Powerful Women of the Mindfulness Movement 2021. You can read the article HERE.
