Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS:  Coronavirus has captured the attention of the world. It is vital at this time that we as medical professionals are as well–informed and prepared as possible to educate, assist and reassure the public during the next several weeks. San Diego County Public Health Services has issued a FAQs sheet for Coronavirus, CLICK HERE.

The number of Coronavirus cases has already exceeded the number of SARS cases in 2003. But for perspective, we know that the flu is a more serious public health threat to San Diegans than Coronavirus. However, the danger posed by the flu is not receiving the same level of media attention or public anxiety. Earlier today, San Diego County Medical Society's own Dr. Will Tseng, Chair of our Communications Committee and our lead on public health issues, will participate in a news conference with San Diego City Councilman Chris Cate and County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher to inform and reassure the public regarding Coronavirus and encourage people that it is safe to continue to shop and visit the Convoy area.

This is your final reminder that the 2020 application cycle for the CalHealthCares loan repayment program is open — but is about to close. This week is your last chance to apply. Applications will be accepted until this Friday, February 7th. Those eligible have graduated within the last five years (January 1, 2015) or will be graduating and moving towards employment no later than June 30, 2020. The loan repayment program aims to increase access to care for California's Medi–Cal patients and will award $340 million in loan repayments to encourage physicians to provide care to Medi–Cal beneficiaries. As always, let me know if you have any questions!  Paul Hegyi, CEO
