Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: We’re proud to report that after all the final ballots were counted SDCMS Member Dr. Akilah Weber won her election outright in the primary and she was officially sworn into the California State Assembly yesterday! You can read about her impressive victory HERE. Congratulations to Dr. Weber, who now is just the third physician in the California Legislature.

SDCMS is proud to partner with the Ilan Lael Foundation to offer free “Healing the Healers” retreats for frontline healthcare workers who have been caring for COVID patients. “Retreats are designed to help heal and inspire, rest and relax, and re–charge, all while in a beautiful setting surrounded by art and nature!” Please see this link HERE to learn more, register, donate, and read words of gratitude to healthcare workers from the community.

A second monoclonal antibody regional center (MARC) has opened at 391 Oxford Street in Chula Vista (91911)! Monoclonal antibody therapy is provided at no cost to the patient, regardless of health insurance or immigration status. Patients may self–refer for early COVID–19 treatment. The other MARC is located at Palomar Medical Center Downtown at 555 East Valley Parkway, Escondido (92025). Providers and individuals may refer patients or self–refer by calling (619) 685-2500 with questions and/or to schedule an appointment directly. For questions, please email COVIDtreatment@sdcounty.ca.gov.

The DEA is hosting a National TakeBack Day Event on April 24th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The DEA's Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose events, and we strongly encourage physicians to participate.

If your clinic is in need of volunteer vaccinators to assist with COVID–19 vaccinations or if you would like to volunteer, visit the HealthImpact website. More information about volunteer vaccinator opportunities can be found HERE. Visit CDPH’s list of Licensees Authorized to Administer Vaccines in California.

Finally, a reminder that the next and final Clinical Town Hall will be tomorrow April 21st, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. This will be the last Town Hall scheduled until further notice! Future Town Halls will be held on an as–needed basis if events warrant. Please submit questions in advance and CLICK HERE to do so.
