Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS:  Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC), the non-profit organization affiliated with the California Medical Association, is making a real difference for physicians and their patients in California. PHC recently announced the first round of CalHealthCares loan repayment awards. This first round includes 247 grants totaling $58.6 million to physicians who agree to see at least 30 percent Medi-Cal patients. This terrific program is funded by Proposition 56.

In another important area, PHC just announced a second application cycle for the CalMedForce grant program, which will award approximately $40 million to primary care and emergency medicine residency programs in California. The first cycle in January 2019 saw PHC award $38 million to graduate medical education (GME) programs across the state to fund around 150 physician residents.

The next application will be released by September 23, 2019, and is due by October 28, 2019. I encourage you to read the article below in the “What to Know” section for more information, such as eligibility criteria.

On another note, the California Medical Association is accepting resolutions for consideration for Q4. The resolution submission deadline is July 15, 2019. CLICK HERE to submit a resolution.

Finally, I'd like to draw your attention to the Network of Ethnic Physician Organization (NEPO) Summit on August 23-24 at the Westin Pasadena. For more information and to register click on the link in the “What to Do” section below.

As always, let me know if you have any questions!  Paul Hegyi, CEO
