San Diego County Medical Society CEO Paul Hegyi encourages physicians to apply for the California Medical Association's new Diversity and Inclusion Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). The Committee is tasked with implementing the CMA Inclusion and Diversity Strategic Plan, including its 2019 strategy on leadership development. Hegyi also congratulates Dr. David E.J. Bazzo, President of the San Diego Medical Society, on being inducted as President-Elect of the California Academy of Family Physicians.

San Diego Medical Society CEO Paul Hegyi announces that Physicians for a Healthy California, formerly the California Medical Association's Foundation, has created a program for loan repayments for licensed physicians, residents and fellows who are enrolled Medi-Cal providers and have at least a 30% Medi-Cal caseload. $190 million has been set aside and recipients may receive up to $300,000 based on a five-year service obligation. Hegyi also encouraged physicians to bring their significant others to attend the April 18th Physician Networking Opportunity and Mixer at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse in La Mesa.

San Diego County Medical Society CEO Paul Hegyi writes about the important victory just achieved by the California Medical Association in Sacramento. Governor Newsom signed a fix to the new Prescription Security law which delays implementation and enables patients to receive the medications they need in the meantime.

San Diego County Medical Society CEO Paul Hegyi urges members to renew their dues before the March 1st deadline so there is no lapse in the important benefits provided by the California Medical Association and SDCMS. Hegyi also draws attention to two upcoming SDCMS events in the next few months - the April Physician Mixer and the May installation of the new SDCMS President.

San Diego Medical Society CEO Paul Hegyi shares that Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC), the CMA's charity organization, just announced that $38 million in tobacco tax (Prop. 56) revenue has been awarded to 73 Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs across California to fund 156 slots for physician residencies. These residencies are to help under served communities and San Diego County has received several of these slots.

San Diego County Medical Society CEO Paul Hegyi issues an urgent warning to San Diego physicians about a scam targeting local doctors. Criminals posing as DEA Agents attempt to coerce cash out of physicians by claiming it is needed to post a criminal bond. The DEA is aware of the scam and Paul shares their advice on what to do if contacted by these criminals.
