Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: With summer breaks coming to a close, activity at the medical society is picking up. Last week we held the quarterly meeting of your Board of Directors, where physician leaders reviewed more than 14 measures up in this Q4 period. You can access those measures and submit testimony if you CLICK HERE.

The SDCMS Board was also joined by Drs. James Strebig and Ken Blumenfeld, who along with Dr. Peter Bretan are running for President-elect of CMA at this October's House of Delegates (Dr. Bretan joined us at our April meeting). SDCMS member Dr. Akilah Weber also addressed the board about her candidacy for La Mesa City Council. You can learn more at www.drweber4lamesa.com.

I recently spoke at a meeting of Permanente department chiefs to deliver an update on CMA and SDCMS advocacy activity, then to the Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club about the importance of health care policy in federal and state affairs. I want to thank Dr. Michael Lalich at Permanente and Laura Purdom at the Rotary for having me, and invite you to book similar presentations through Sue at sue.fledderjohn@sdcms.org.

Finally, college football season returns this week. I know there can be some hot passions among our members and I'll just add, "Fight On!" for my USC Trojans.

As always, let me know if you have any questions!  Paul Hegyi, CEO
