Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: Working with UCSD, SDCMS has scheduled a webinar featuring Dr. Ashby Wolfe, Region IX Chief Medical Officer of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, detailing proposed changes to the 2019 Physician Fee Schedule. This will give physicians and their offices an opportunity to better understand changes proposed while the federal comment period is still open. The state Legislature returned to Sacramento last week as it completes its work for the final month of this year's Session. The CMA and SDCMS are actively engaged in monitoring and engaging on legislation that affects our membership and their patients. In addition, for the 5th year in a row we are excited to have 8 first year medical students interning in Sacramento for 2 weeks to learn firsthand about the state public policy process. All of the students have already graduated from Dr. Robert Hertzka's class on healthcare policy and on their own dime and vacation time they are gaining practical experience and insight. It is inspiring to see a new generation so committed to impacting future healthcare public policy.

Champions for Health will be holding its 5th Annual Solana Beach Sunset 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, November 10th. You can walk or run on the sands of the beach while enjoying the beautiful views of Fletcher Cove and helping raise money for Champions' Community Wellness and Diabetes Prevention Programs. This is an important cause and you can register by clicking here.

As always, let me know if you have any questions!  Paul Hegyi, CEO
