SDCMS News You Can Use

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2022

Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: The San Diego Blood Bank has recently issued an urgent call for blood donations, particularly from type O negative and O positive blood donors, as the supply of both blood types has hit critically low levels.

SDBB has repeatedly issued urgent calls for blood donations this year but it’s unusual for them to have such a specific and severe blood type shortfall.

Regardless of your blood type, there are several things that we in the medical community can do to better support the San Diego Blood Bank in its on–going efforts to assist San Diego hospitals. The best way to help is:

Donate blood — appointments are available at SanDiegoBloodBank.org/donate or by calling (619) 400–8251. Walk–ins are welcome.

Encourage people in your friend, family, professional groups to donate blood and share the message.

Amplify their plea by reposting their social media regarding blood donations.

Write your own post and share a personal plea to support SDBB.

SDCMS’ last Physician Social Mixer was such a great success that we are holding another one in November!

Please join your physician colleagues at our next physician networking opportunity and mixer on Thursday November 3rd, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse in La Mesa. Come mingle, socialize, and network with your colleagues, and be sure to bring your spouse / significant other — complimentary pizza and drinks will be provided.

There is no charge for current society members or their guests to attend this hosted event as included in SDCMS’ benefit offerings. Space is limited and RSVPs are required, so REGISTER SOON, and do spread the word by forwarding this email to your colleagues.

Another great social event that also supports the very worthy cause of getting badly–needed medical services to the underserved communities of San Diego County is Champions for Health’s Casino Nightfundraiser on Saturday October 8th from 5:00 to 9:00 PM. It’s being held at The Vault in Veloce Motors, features casino–like entertainment and raffle prizes.

The proceeds benefit Champions’ Project Access San Diego (PASD) and Immunization Programs. CLICK HERE for more information and tickets. Look forward to seeing you there.

As always, let me know if you have any questions! Paul Hegyi, CEO
