SDCMS News You Can Use

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2021

Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: Today, people from around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate #GivingTuesday. Please join your physician colleagues by making a tax–deductible donation to Champions for Health, the charitable non–profit for San Diego County Medical Society.

Champions for Health has made a major difference in providing access to care and helping fulfill the needs of the medically underserved and minority communities in San Diego County. The pandemic has also resulted in Champions taking on a significant role in helping vaccinate those communities throughout our vast County. Their work is more important than ever and they need and deserve your financial support. Please DONATE HERE to support Champions' worthwhile programs.

With children 5 and up now eligible for vaccination, the CalVax Grant deadline has been extended until December 17th. Individual practices may receive up to $55,000 to support vaccination efforts, and to be eligible, practices must complete Section A of the myCAVax application process.

2,100 California medical organizations have already received over $28 million to help cover the costs associated with serving as a COVID–19 community vaccination site. With only $12 million left in available funding, the time to apply for a #CalVaxGrant is now! Qualifying organizations can receive up to $55,000, and the application process is easy.

Learn more and apply today: CalVaxGrant.org or call (916) 551–2565 for one–on–one assistance and more information.

The County of San Diego, the San Diego County Medical Society, and the Hospital Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties are hosting another Clinical Town Hall about the COVID–19 pandemic. These virtual sessions are designed by physicians, for physicians to share timely information and discuss issues specific to medical professionals.

Five new CME webinars on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias are now available on the Champions for Health Alzheimer’s Project website. These free on–demand webinars cover screening, evaluation and diagnosis, management of behavioral symptoms, and caring for the caregivers. The fifth new webinar covers the controversial FDA approval of aducanumab for MCI and early–stage Alzheimer's.

A recent article tells of insurers' position on the drug; Medicare is not set to determine their payment schedule until April.

As always, let me know if you have any questions! Paul Hegyi, CEO
