SDCMS News You Can Use

TUESDAY, MARCH 31, 2026
Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: In January the SDCMS Board of Directors voted to support Measure H, seeking voter authorization for Tri–City Healthcare District and Sharp HealthCare to enter into a 30–year partnership and lease agreement, allowing Sharp to provide high–quality health care services at Tri–City Medical Center.

This measure is needed to improve local access to high–quality emergency medical care and comprehensive health care services through a new partnership in North County. The campaign is seeking support from San Diego physicians and I encourage you to register your endorsement at yesforhighqualityhospitalcare.com/endorse. Be sure to select ‘Physician’.

On the other side of our county, with the support of SDCMS, Dr. Joy Emmanuel is running for City Council in Chula Vista. Dr. Mehran Moussavian is hosting an event to support Dr. Emmanuel’s campaign April 8th in Chula Vista. You can learn more about her campaign at votedrjoy.com and about the event HERE if interested.

OCT 8, 2026: 12:15-1:15pm, FREE Webinar for Members and Non–Members, sponsored by CMA and The Doctors Company, ‘Best PracticesDocumenting Disruptive Patient Behavior’. Disruptive patient encounters create undue stress on physicians and their staff, threaten an environment of patient safety and divert valuable resources. Patients who push the limits of appropriate behavior cause health care workers anxiety, stress, personal and professional isolation plus diminished coping strategies. Learn to address the behavior through a lens inclusive of cultural issues, intrinsic bias, language and health literacy. Medical records should also reflect the patient experience and behavior in the office. Documentation of patient inappropriate or disruptive behavior is required to defend health plan grievances and successfully respond to patient complaints to the licensing boards.
