Carriedo–Ceniceros, MD, at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas in Rancho Mirage over the weekend. We heard from David H. Aizuss, MD, Chair of the American Medical Association’s Board of Trustees, who made a fascinating presentation on the AMA’s on–going policy approach to artificial intelligence and health care. Andrew Gonzalez of the SDCMS staff also had a lively and productive engagement with the Members on our Physician Pathways initiative, which reaches out to young people to encourage an interest in health care careers. Former SDCMS President Sergio R. Flores, MD, received a (delayed) honor from the California State Legislature for his service during his Presidency. Board Members also discussed physician wellness and immersed themselves in the details of policy development and the process for preparing effective resolutions on specific issues that impact physicians and their patients. Dr. Robert E. Hertzka, Chair of the SDCMS Legislative Committee, delivered a comprehensive overview of the history of federal health care funding and policy, and the impact of HR 1.
