SDCMS News You Can Use

TUESDAY, MARCH 1, 2022

Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: The CalHealthCares application deadline has been extended to Friday, March 11, 2022. Eligible physicians and dentists will now have an extra two weeks to submit their applications for the program. Interested individuals must apply by 11:59 PM on March 11th to be considered for an award.

CalHealthCares hosted webinars to provide an overview of the application, important timelines, common errors, and the scoring system. If you were unable to attend one of the webinars, you can still view a recording HERE. We encourage interested physicians and dentists to visit CalHealthCares.org for more information.

On Wednesday, March 23rd from 6 — 7:30 PM, SDCMS is hosting a FREE webinar in conjunction with The Doctors Company, ‘Understanding Malpractice Risks for NPs, PAs and Supervising Physicians’. This worthwhile webinar is worth 1 CME Credit and I strongly encourage your participation. You can REGISTER HERE and view more information HERE.

More than 23,000 emergency room visits are associated with dietary supplement use in the U.S. each year. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Food and Drug Branch is asking physicians to take an anonymous 5–minute survey about their knowledge, attitudes, and practices when it comes to dietary supplement use.

The objectives of the survey are to assess health care provider opinions and current level of knowledge surrounding dietary supplement use, adulteration and adverse events; to determine the frequency with which California health professionals document and discuss dietary supplement use with their patients; and to guide the development of data–driven educational materials for health care providers and their patients, which can ultimately reduce adverse events and improve human health. CLICK HERE to take the survey.

A reminder that you can access a recording HERE and receive 4 CME Credits for viewing our ‘COVID–19 for the Long Haul: Post COVID Recovery and Care’ symposium that SDCMS presented with UC San Diego Health and The Doctors Company. The link to claim CME credit is HERE and the last day to claim CME credit for the course is 5 PM on March 7th.

Contact Juliann Miles at (800) 421–2368 X4311 or by email at jumiles@thedoctors.com if you have questions or need assistance. This symposium brings you up to date information from leading respected experts to support your identification of Long COVID and to understand how to manage this complex condition. Participate in this symposium to prepare yourself to enhance your diagnosis and treatment of Long COVID patients.

The date is fast approaching for Champions for Health’s 3rd Annual Soirée.
