Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS:  We just received an urgent message from the California Medical Association that CMS has issued a proposed rule that will significantly reduce our state's Medicaid funding, exacerbate provider shortages and undermine patient access to medical care. We need as many physicians as possible to submit UNIQUE comments. Immediate action is needed! Please share our call to action with your fellow physicians. The deadline to submit comments is Feb. 1. For background and a sample letter CLICK HERE.

Another reminder that the 2020 application cycle for the CalHealthCares loan repayment program has opened and Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC) is hosting several webinars that will provide an overview of the requirements, deadlines and the application itself. You can register for your choice of webinar dates today. For more information on the webinars, please CLICK HERE. The loan repayment program aims to increase access to care for California's Medi–Cal patients and will award $340 million in loan repayments to encourage physicians to provide care to Medi–Cal beneficiaries. Applications will be accepted until February 7, 2020.

We would also like to give a shout out to SDCMS' Dr. Will Tseng, Chair of our Communications Committee, for doing such a great job representing us on KFMB — Channel 8 on their recent story on Gov. Newsom's proposal to have the State of California sell prescription drugs. If you'd like to see the story on this important topic CLICK HERE.

As always, let me know if you have any questions!  Paul Hegyi, CEO
