Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS:  The California Medical Association is holding a worthwhile webinar titled, “Proposition 56 Funds: What's New for FY 19–20 and Beyond.” The webinar is from 12:15pm to 1:15pm tomorrow and presenters will discuss, among other things, the services eligible for FY 19–20 supplemental payments, payment amounts by CPT code, tips on ensuring your practice receives the full amount of eligible funds and the distribution timelines of the FY 18–19 funds. Participation is free for physicians who are members. For more information, CLICK HERE.

It's also time again for the 11th Annual SDCMS “Outstanding Medical Office Manager” contest. SDCMS wants to recognize San Diego County's most outstanding medical office manager/practice administrator, i.e., someone who goes above and beyond his or her job description, who anticipates problems before they arise, who works efficiently with the practice's time and resources, and who strikes the right balance between exercising control and boosting morale when supervising staff.

SDCMS Member physicians can nominate their office managers by explaining in writing (up to 600 words) why their office manager is the BEST in San Diego County. Nominations will be accepted through Tuesday, December 31st, 2019. The winner will receive a $200 gift card and recognition as San Diego County's Medical Office Manager for 2019! Contest results will also be published in the February 2020 issue of San Diego Physician magazine. Please email your nominations to Hanna.Basler@SDCMS.org. Remember, only submissions from physician members will be considered.

Also of note, Champions for Health, SDCMS' non–profit organization, has produced an on-demand webinar for physicians on “Pain Management and Opioid Prescribing for Older Adults.” You can learn appropriate techniques for prescribing opioid medication and other pain management tools, specifically for your older adult patients. As always, let me know if you have any questions!  Paul Hegyi, CEO
