The report outlines our progress over the first half of the year and previews the major policy fights still ahead. So far this year CMA has successfully stopped or amended numerous bills that would have undermined patient safety, expanded unsupervised scope of practice, or increased regulatory burdens on physicians. At the same time, we’ve continued to drive proactive reforms — streamlining prior authorization, fighting corporate interference in medical decision–making, and advancing physician wellness. The mid–year update includes a full breakdown of bills CMA has opposed or negotiated, as well as a status report on our sponsored legislation. As the legislative session enters its final stretch, CMA remains focused on ensuring that health care policy in California reflects the realities of clinical practice and the needs of patients. Read the full update to see how CMA and SDCMS are working to safeguard the future of medicine.
