WEDNESDAY, APRIL 13, 2022

Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: We will bring together hundreds of physicians, distinguished guests and local, state, and national legislators for the installation of our incoming president and to celebrate 152 years of healing at SDCMS’ Annual Rendezvous Gala on Friday, June 3rd, from 6:00 to 10:00 PM at The Abbey on Fifth.

This will be our first in–person Gala since 2019! We will welcome our new President, Toluwalase (Lase) Ajayi, MD and thank Sergio R. Flores, MD for his service as our President during this past year. More information on this wonderful event can be found HERE. For those interested in sponsoring our Gala please contact me directly at Hegyi@SDCMS.org. We look forward to seeing you there!

As COVID–19 enters its third year, encounters with disruptive patients continue to push the tolerance and sensitivity of physicians and their staff. Medical practices should evaluate disruptive behavior through a lens that includes evaluation of cultural issues, intrinsic bias, language, and health literacy. San Diego County Medical Society (SDCMS) in partnership with The Doctors Company (TDC) invite you to attend an important and timely webinar entitled ‘Best Practice: Documenting Disruptive Patient Behavior’ to help address these concerns.

Join us for this FREE event on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, 6 — 7:30 PM. We will discuss how medical record documentation should reflect the patient experience and behavior, and how to defend against health plan grievances or Medical Board complaints. In addition we will review how it serves to support dismissal of a patient when warranted.

All are welcome, both members and non–members alike. Attendees will also earn 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits upon conclusion of the program. Register HERE.

SDSU is seeking participants for a research study they are doing with SDSU’s Audiology department. Dr. Jill Preminger of SDSU is doing a research project, funded by the Retirement Research Foundation, to try to increase the number of older adults to see an audiologist after failing a hearing screening.

They are trying to recruit people from four different settings, one of which is Primary Care Physician (PCP) offices and are seeking to find PCPs who might be interested in collaborating on this study by passing out brochures to their patients. The brochure can be found HERE. More information on the program and study can be found at iManageMyHearing.SDSU.edu.

The Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force (PDATF) of San Diego County has a brief survey they are asking San Diego physicians to complete regarding the disposal of prescription drugs. The survey can be accessed via a QR HERE.

As always, let me know if you have any questions! Paul Hegyi, CEO
