All New 2009 California Physician’s Legal Handbook Available
The California Physician’s Legal Handbook (CPLH) is written by the California Medical Association’s attorneys, who have responded to tens of thousands of calls from physicians. This more than 4,500-page, seven-volume, easy-to-read, comprehensive legal guide to practicing medicine in California is intended to serve as a reference for practicing physicians and those who assist physicians, including attorneys, administrators, office managers, and business advisers.
The 2009 CPLH is even more comprehensive than prior editions and comes in two formats:
- a print version in an easy-to-handle soft cover binding, with a separate volume containing the table of contents and five indices (subjects, laws, forms, websites, and court cases);
- a fully searchable and hyperlinked CD-ROM, which contains all the contents of the print version, as well as interactive forms and sample letters physicians can customize using their word processing programs and — new this year — hyperlinks to FindLaw for access to cited court cases.
The entire handbook has been updated and expanded to reflect new laws, court cases, and developments in the fast-changing healthcare delivery system.
CMA ON-CALL
With few exceptions, the information contained in the CPLH is also available from CMA’s 24-hour information-on-demand system, CMA ON-CALL. All CMA ON-CALL documents are available free of charge to SDCMS-CMA members on CMA’s website. For assistance in logging into CMA’s website, SDCMS members should contact Marisol Gonzalez, your SDCMS physician advocate, at (858) 300-2783 or at MGonzalez@SDCMS.org.
