New Medicare Outpatient Referrals

The following is the script my office staff is reading to new Medicare outpatient referrals. I will continue to see established Medicare outpatients and new Medicare inpatient referrals.

Until the United States Congress stops the 4.4% payment cuts to doctors treating Medicare patients, Dr. Young will not be seeing any new Medicare patients. Dr. Young regrets the need for this decision and if the Congress acts to stop the Medicare payment cuts, she will re-open her practice to new Medicare patients. Meanwhile, please contact your referring physician for the name of another rheumatologist, and if you are unhappy about your loss of access to care, please write, call, fax, or email your congressmember and U.S. Senators Feinstein and Boxer.
