Lethal Remedy
Lethal Remedy is a fast-paced story involving politicians, lobbyists, the medical community, and murder. When legislation critically important to physicians comes before the Indiana House of Representatives, a key legislator is murdered. The legislator’s successor, Elizabeth Ralston, a young, idealistic lawyer from a small river town in southern Indiana, is drafted by her community to fill his shoes. What Elizabeth doesn’t know is that her life may very well depend on her vote.
Biography: After graduating from Indiana University, Mike Abrams worked for the Indiana General Assembly as a speechwriter and research assistant. After four years of working for the legislature, he began working for the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA) in Indianapolis. It was during his work for ISMA that the plot for Lethal Remedy was born. “Lobbying can sometimes bring out the very worst aspects of a person’s personality. It takes a person of extremely calm temperament to survive the pressures of the industry,” he said. His first novel takes the reader into the inner workings of legislative machinery to experience the environment’s intensity. While working for ISMA, Mike earned a masters degree in public administration from Indiana University. He also met Mary Ann Sprauer, MD, MPH, and they married in 1994. After nine years with ISMA, Mike left to become the executive vice president of the Iowa Medical Society in West Des Moines, Iowa. His wife, Mary Ann, is a pediatrician. They have two children, Elizabeth and Thomas. When he is not working, writing, or reading, Mike struggles to get his golf score below 100. He is working on his second book, Kill the Host, another suspense novel.
