Paul HegyiPHYSICIANS: The SDCMS Board of Directors recently received a presentation from Dr. Susan Little of UCSD about various Phase III COVID trials they are coordinating locally. We'd like to help recruit participants, particularly in groups disproportionately impacted by this disease (African Americans, Latinos, Asian/Pacific Islanders and Native Americans/Alaska Natives). Learn more at covidvaccinesd.com and download flyers in English CLICK HERE or Spanish CLICK HERE and information sheets in English CLICK HERE or Spanish CLICK HERE. I've personally signed up and hope you will help find participants for this important project.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day addresses a crucial public safety and public health issue. According to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

DEA Take Back Day is coming up on October 24, 2020 from 10am2pm. I have attached an updated flyer for the Take Back Day locations CLICK HERE. To find out more information please visit takebackday.dea.gov.

The DEA’s Take Back Day events provide an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths. Please encourage your patients to participate.

Finally, the San Diego County COVID–19 Equity Task Force is hosting a fascinating Zoom presentation with Dr. Leroy Sims, Vice–President and Medical Officer of the NBA, titled ‘COVID–19: Lessons from Inside the NBA Bubble’ which is this evening from 6:00 to 7:00pm. You can CLICK HERE to RSVP.

As always, let me know if you have any questions! Paul Hegyi, CEO
