"News You Can Use" <> September 9, 2016

THANK YOU, SDCMS-CMA PHYSICIANS! Three CMA-sponsored bills are on the governor’s desk awaiting his signature: AB 2121, a life-saving measure requiring alcohol servers and managers to complete a training course on responsible beverage service; SB 1177, establishing a Physician Health and Wellness Program for California physicians; and SB 563, increasing transparency and accountability in the workers’ compensation utilization review process.

In addition, CMA killed scope expansion bills by “naturopathic doctors” and certified nurse midwives. Great work, CMA! As always, let us know how we can help, and thank you for your membership. Mihir Parikh, MD, President, SDCMS
