QUESTION #927: I received a contract from Anthem Blue Cross for their EPO-Healthy Families product. I do have their PPO product and have no desire to contract with them on anything else. Why did they send this to me, and can I just throw it away?

ANSWER (07/29/09): CMA has been receiving numerous calls from physicians all over the state stating that they did not request this contract nor do they want to contract with Anthem Blue Cross' EPO product. Anthem has communicated to CMA that they have identified providers who previously treated Healthy Families and AIM (Access for Infants and Mothers) patients and sent contracts to those physicians. Anthem made contact information available for any/all physicians who wanted to participate but didn't receive the new contract. Physicians are under no obligation to sign and participate in Healthy Families. It is your right to throw away the contract if you choose.
