QUESTION #911: I received a letter from Health Net stating that my billing pattern for E&M services differs significantly from that of my "specialty-matched peers in the network". They want me to send a written response providing clarification, insight, or justification for this unique billing pattern within the next 30 days. I've never had this request before. Could someone assist me by reviewing my response to this letter?

ANSWER (07/10/09): CMA has a liaison with Health Net on coding and medical policy issues. They (CMA) were able to review the physician's response and recommended several changes. They also requested that the physician copy CMA on his response letter to Health Net.
