QUESTION #902: We are opening up a new office next month. Do we need to notify Medicare of our additional office if we are going to be seeing Medicare patients there?
ANSWER (06/15/09): Yes, you must notify them. You need to fill out the appropriate 855 CMS application with the "change". The office must be physically set up and accepting phone calls in order for you to report this to Medicare. You should not see your first Medicare patient at the new location unless you are ready to send in the application (no more than 30 days prior to opening). The effective date will be when you see your first patient or 30 days prior to when Medicare received your completed application, whichever is latest.
