CMA Foundation Publishes 2010–11 Cold and Flu Toolkit for Physicians

The CMA Foundation's Alliance Working for Antibiotic Resistance Education (AWARE) project has published its fourth annual antibiotic awareness toolkit for physicians and other clinicians. The toolkit contains an array of clinical resources and patient education materials to help reduce inappropriate antibiotic use.
As we head into the cold and flu season, physicians are encouraged to utilize these resources to educate patients about antibiotic resistance. The toolkit includes, among other things:
- Health Tips – This patient handout provides tips on how to stay healthy, promotes proper antibiotic use and encourages frequent hand washing. (Available in English and Spanish.)
- I Choose to Prevent Influenza! – These patient handouts contain information on preventing the flu and what to do if you do get sick. (Available in English and Spanish.)
- Feel Better Soon…Without Antibiotics! –These patient brochures identify common symptoms and remedies that can provide symptomatic relief. Also available in a companion poster format for your medical office. (Available in English and Spanish.)
- AWARE "Prescription Pad" – This handout lists over-the-counter treatments that can help alleviate cold and flu symptoms. (Available in English and Spanish.)
The toolkit is available for download at the AWARE website.
